Taxi Parking Permit (Taxi License)

📘 Definition

After passing the examination of the certificate of professional competence and obtaining the professional card, the taxi driver must, in order to be able to carry out his activity, either be holder of a parking authorization (ADS), commonly called "taxi license" or "plate"or work as a tenant or employee for an operator holding an ADS.

It is the mayor (or the prefect of police in Paris for the "Parisian taxis") who, after informing the local commission of public transport particular of people, fixes by decree the number of parking authorizations, that is, the number of taxis allowed in the municipality.

This competence sometimes belongs to the president of the council of the metropolis or the EPCI of which the municipality is a member.
